The Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted celebrated hip-hop artist Navio to discuss The Navio X Project, highlighting the role of music and culture in advancing Uganda’s international image, tourism, and heritage preservation.

The Head of Public Diplomacy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ms Margaret Kafeero, accompanied by the Public Diplomacy team, hosted celebrated Ugandan hip-hop artist Daniel Kigozi Jr, popularly known as Navio, at the Ministry headquarters in Kampala on Thursday.

The engagement focused on cultural diplomacy and heritage preservation.

Navio is currently spearheading The Navio X Project, an ambitious multimedia heritage initiative that blends music creation with cultural exploration.

The project seeks to document, preserve, and promote Uganda’s diverse indigenous cultures while positioning artistic expression as a vehicle for national identity, pride, and global engagement.

During the meeting, discussions centred on the growing role of art, culture, and heritage as strategic exports capable of enhancing Uganda’s global image, stimulating tourism, and attracting investment.

Both parties underscored the power of creative industries to transcend borders, foster mutual understanding, and strengthen Uganda’s presence on the international stage.

Kafeero commended Navio for leveraging his platform to champion cultural preservation and innovation.

She noted that initiatives like The Navio X Project align closely with Uganda’s public diplomacy objectives, which aim to project the country’s rich cultural heritage while fostering sustainable partnerships at home and abroad.

“Art and culture are powerful instruments of diplomacy. They tell our story in authentic and compelling ways, creating meaningful connections between Uganda and the rest of the world. We are proud to support initiatives that safeguard our heritage while opening new avenues for tourism, trade, and investment,” she said.

Navio expressed appreciation for the Ministry’s engagement and support, emphasising the importance of institutional collaboration in advancing cultural projects of national significance.

He reiterated his commitment to celebrating Uganda’s cultural diversity through music and multimedia storytelling that resonates with both local and global audiences.
